Haha Jenn- I liked this article a lot. I thought it was hilarious, and it gave me an insider's look at why Sacha Cohen decided to do Borat. The way the author describes his mannerisms during the interview really were telling details into his personality. Although I didn't feel like I got a fantastic look at who the real, humble, more private Sacha Cohen is... I definitely got the impression that there was more to his character than Borat. I saw a different side of him for sure. The fact that he rarely does interviews as himself shows what kind of person he is. I think with this profile it is necessary to infer a lot from the details the author presents. I liked it, especially the "Pause"'s.
I thought this profile was written so creatively! Even though it was a bit long, it didn't get bogged down at all. Every scene transitioned into the next, and there was constant action or dialogue. I like that the article could reflect the Sacha we're all familiar with by inserting jokes and references of his work, and at the same time inform us of the real Sacha Baron Cohen. I was so surprised to learn of his strong faith in Judaism.
After reading this article I can say that I genuinely like Cohen and all of his endeavors.
Great choice, I loved reading this article! I was really skeptical at first because of all of the hype that has surrounded Borat, but the look this writer took at Sascha Baron Cohen was really interesting. It was really interesting how they exposed such a vulnerable side to this performer with such boisterous personalities.
I really liked this article as well. It was really interesting how the author took a typical profile, and spun their observations into the writing. I thought this really helped show how it was hard to tell if this comedian was still trying to get a joke across or being serious, and this showed some of the difficulties that the author faced. The profile transitioned really well and the mix of humor and seriousness lead to a really interesting examination of Sacha Cohen.
When watching the movie I thought that it brilliantly showed bias on many levels that humans have for their fellow human beings. When discussing the movie with friends and family I was at a loss for describing the mechanism by which Cohen was able to do this. I was very glad to read this article to read his description of this mechanism. "'Borat essentially works as a tool,' Baron Cohen says.' By himself being anti-Semitic, he lets people lower their guard and expose their own prejudice, whether it's anti-Semitism or an acceptance of anti-Semitism."
